Description:

Presented by Dr. Vincent Santoro, MD ( Orthopedic Surgery)

Dr. Santoro reviews common neck and shoulder conditions after MVAs, primarily rear-end collisions. This will include the rationale as to why they may or may NOT be related.

Dr. Vincent Santoro is a retired orthopedic surgeon with a distinguished career spanning three decades. Since his retirement in March 2019, he has remained actively engaged in the field, contributing his expertise in various capacities.

Dr. Santoro joined Orthopedics Associates in Hartford, Connecticut, where he served as a senior partner from 1990 to 2002. In this role, he led the orthopedic trauma program at Hartford Hospital while maintaining a bustling general orthopedic practice. His specialization included fractures, posttraumatic reconstruction, joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery, and sports medicine, particularly focusing on shoulder and knee injuries. He also served as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Connecticut, training orthopedic residents, and medical students.

In 2002, seeking a better environment for his family, Dr. Santoro relocated to Lake Sammamish, Washington, after receiving multiple job offers across the country. In 2014 he was recruited and became the first member of the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine department at Evergreen HealthCare. He continued his practice in a group setting until his medical retirement in 2019. Dr. Santoro regained his American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS) recertification in December 2025 for the next ten years.

From 2002 to 2019, his focus shifted to shoulder and knee reconstruction, alongside the care of general orthopedic conditions. Over his career, Dr. Santoro has performed more than 15,000 surgeries and provided countless second opinions to patients.

Since retiring, he has pivoted toward medical-legal evaluations, conducting record reviews, second opinions, and examinations for both defense and plaintiff cases, contributing approximately 50% of his efforts to each. He has gained experience in providing testimony for depositions, arbitration, and trial settings. Dr. Santoro is actively involved with the International Academy of Independent Medical Evaluators (IAIME), focusing on advancing the fields of impairment evaluation, disability medicine, and causation analysis. He remains up to date on continuing medical education (CME) requirements for Washington State and the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Santoro’s journey exemplifies a commitment to excellence in orthopedic surgery and an enduring dedication to patient care and professional development.
