WDTL continues its support of Treehouse, Washington's leading non-profit organization that assists youth in foster care

With the worst of COVID-19 hopefully behind us and kids returning to the classroom this fall, WDTL is continuing in its support of Treehouse's annual back to school drive. For those unfamiliar with Treehouse, it is Washington's leading non-profit organization that assists youth in foster care. Since 1988, Treehouse has been dedicated to closing the academic gap between youth in foster care and their peers. With WDTL's support, Treehouse can reach its goal of 90% of youth in foster care throughout Washington completing high school with a plan to transition into independence by 2027.
Kids achieve academically when they feel confident. Your support will allow youth in foster care to begin this school year with a strong start and provide them with the necessary tools to achieve success in the classroom. Treehouse is in need of the following new school supplies:
- Backpacks (Jansport, Adidas, Puma, Nike, Disney, Marvel, etc.)
- Lunch boxes
- Highlighters (multi packs preferred)
- Sharpies (packs of 2 or 3)
- Dry erase/expo markers
- Elmers glue (bottled glue and glue sticks)
- Pens (blue, black and red ink)
- Mechanical pencil packs
- Pencils (normal wooden #2 pencils)
- Colored pencils (Crayola brand preferred)
- Markers (Crayola brand preferred - normal/fat tip preferred over fine tip)
- Crayons (Crayola brand preferred)
- Erasers (handheld and pencil topper combo pack preferred)
- Pencil sharpeners (handheld)
- Composition notebooks (college ruled, wide ruled and graph paper all needed)
- Wide ruled spiral notebooks
- College ruled spiral notebooks (multi subject notebooks preferred)
- Filler paper (wide ruled, college ruled and graph paper)
- Index Cards (lined and unlined)
- Binders (1", 2" and 3" needed)
- Basic calculators
- Art sketch pads
- Kids washable paint (Crayola brand preferred)
WDTL will be collecting school supplies for Treehouse until August 27, 2021. Donations may be dropped off with Danielle McKenzie at Betts, Patterson & Mines, 701 Pike Street, Suite 1400, Seattle, WA 98101. Back by popular demand….WDTL is having a contest and will provide lunch (individual sandwiches) to the firm that donates the most backpacks this year. So, start collecting backpacks and school supplies!
