Description:
This Lunch & Learn is intended to be a primer for young attorneys fresh out of law school and more experienced attorneys who are new to handling auto cases.  One doesn't need to be a master coverage attorney to handle bodily-injury automobile defense matters involving liability and UIM coverage, but a basic understanding of automobile policy construction, coverage analysis, and various Washington statutes and administrative code provisions that affect coverage and claim handling is a necessary component of any auto litigator’s toolbox.

It begins with a discussion of declaration pages and policy forms, analyze coverage using a mnemonic specific to automobile policies (policy/car/insured/exclusions/other insurance), and touch upon Washington's UIM and PIP statutes and Washington Administrative Code basics in the context of handling first-party versus third-party matters.

Presenters:
Levi Bendele, Partner, Holt Woods & Scisciani

Levi Bendele is a civil defense attorney who defends insureds and insurance companies.  He worked for State Farm claims in the late 90s and for the last 20+ years has defended a variety of cases, including automobile liability and UM/UIM, premise liability, construction injury and defect, premises liability, HOA litigation, professional liability, and insurance matters involving EUOs, PIP, coverage, bad faith and IFCA claims.  He has been a member of WDTL since the early 2000s, was formerly a board member, and currently heads the Auto and Trucking Practice Group.
