This presentation provides background and understanding for adjusting fire losses associated with large wildland fire events and claims. These losses can be overwhelming due to the immense size and amount of destruction. The presentation will cover basic knowledge about wildland fires, how and why they burn, basic burn patterns, causes of wildland fires, things to look for onsite and resource links to aid the adjuster when dealing with large wildland fire loss investigations. In addition, the presentation will review case studies of examples of a residential structure loss due to wildland fire and which will assist in mitigating these types of claims.
