Description:

Cervical spine injuries from motor vehicle collisions and trauma.  When is neck pain more than just a “pain in the neck?”

Dr. Hyman discusses:
  • What is whiplash
  • Injuries that can be managed non-surgically
  • Injuries more likely to need surgery
  • Objective examination and imaging findings that can be worrisome
  • When a patient should have an expert opinion/referral

Presented by Garrett Hyman, MD, MPH

Prior to earning dual MD and MPH degrees from Rutgers University in New Jersey, Dr. Hyman earned dual degrees in Spanish and International Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. After serving as Chief Resident for the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington, he completed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine. He then became an owner and partner in a larger private sports and spine medicine practice, where he served for 8-years prior to starting Lake Washington Sport & Spine in 2012.

Dr. Hyman is Board Certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and Sports Medicine. His professional involvements include participating in the Medical Executive Committee to assist with physician credentialing and safety processes and contributing to PM&R Journals as a Peer Reviewer, reviewing and making recommendations for/against publication of journal article submissions.
