Attendees will learn the basic functions and parameters of a heavy vehicle event data recorder, how they work, and what they record. They will also learn the differences between heavy vehicle EDR manufacturers, and what data is available from each specific manufacturer, along with changes for the industry moving forward. Secondarily, utilizing real world case studies, they will learn when and what electronic data can be preserved, and how that data works in conjunction with physical evidence to provide an understanding of a potential case.

Ian Grissom, ACTAR - Senior Accident Reconstructionist
Mr. Grissom is a forensic scientist and accident reconstructionist specializing in the investigation of motor vehicle accidents. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Seattle Pacific University and, during his studies, he focused on mechanical deformation and kinematics, including vehicle motion. Mr. Grissom is experienced in three-dimensional laser scanning, photogrammetry, and processing data to perform analyses. He is an accredited accident reconstructionist (ACTAR), a certified BOSCH Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) Technician, and a member of both the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
Brendan Morse, P.E., CHFP - Director of Accident Reconstruction
Mr. Morse is a Biomechanist specializing in the study of the forces and mechanics associated with injuries to the human body. He applies this work to all segments of the human body involved in collisions and other impact-producing events.
