A Case Study of Two Recent Trials and Jury Verdicts in Snohomish County Superior Court: An Examination of Untethering and Nuclear Verdict Strategies
Presenters:
James Mendel, Green Lake Law
Levi Bendele, Green Lake Law
Alan Brown, MD, JD
Join us for an engaging and informal discussion of two recent jury trials and verdicts in Snohomish County Superior Court, where notable COVID-era nuclear verdicts were awarded.
In the current landscape, plaintiff attorneys are employing popular strategies that include: (a) "untethering" extensive general damages requests from minor medical bills by not pursuing any special damages, and (b) requesting a substantial "nuclear verdict" amount in closing arguments, with the hope that the jury will "split the baby."
These strategies were effectively countered by attorneys James Mendel and Levi Bendele of Green Lake Law, who will discuss the plaintiffs' tactics, their own counterstrategies, the various trial issues that arose, and insights gathered from jurors afterward.
Additionally, defense medical expert Alan Brown, MD, will share his insights on testifying about opinions commonly presented by well-known plaintiff medical expert Virtaj Singh, MD.
Spoiler Alert: Snohomish County is back!
