Description:
An overview of the many potential data points for forensic analysis that can only be acquired via digital means. The course provides some familiarity with the types of data that could be available from different electronic devices including, but not limited to, mobile phones, GPS devices, smart wearables, the Internet of Things, cloud-based data, social media evidence, and specialized industrial equipment. The course also covers examples and topics related to how those data points of evidence can be applied to individual analysis specific to the type of loss.

Rob Foster is a Colorado attorney and District Manager of the Rimkus Denver and Salt Lake City offices, and Interim District Manager of the Seattle, Portland, and Anchorage offices. Working closely with the Digital Forensics & Analytics Practice Group at Rimkus, Rob serves as the Digital Intelligence Coordinator within the Western Region. In this role, he routinely interfaces with clients and digital technicians to interpret technobabble into meaningful and understandable information for clients.
His background includes typical transaction counseling and litigation as an attorney. Rob is well versed in many aspects of IT having been involved in litigation where IT and associated data were key pieces of evidence, as well as having negotiated countless Big-Tech contracts. Furthermore, he has acted as the IT director for a small oil and gas company with responsibility for everything from mobile devices and web presence to large back-end infrastructure as well as helpdesk responsibilities.
