Description:
This is a one-hour course that will review examples from biomechanical tests and legal cases to illustrate force and leverage, and viable mechanisms of injury such as whiplash, diving (cervical) and head injuries. By the end, participants should have a general understanding of occupant movements and forces in automobile collisions, intervertebral disc mechanics, and the process by which a biomechanical engineer evaluates personal injury allegations following an accident.
Presented by
Dr. Gary Yamaguchi
Dr. Yamaguchi’s consulting practice focuses on determining biomechanical mechanisms of injury, reconstructing both vehicular and biomechanical accidents based on evidence. His areas of practice include analyses of low-speed and high-severity vehicular accidents, vehicle-to-pedestrian impacts, spinal injuries, slips, trips, and falls, fall protection systems, sports injuries, mechanical design, product liability, and premises liability.
