Biomechanical engineers are most commonly associated, in a civil context, with low speed car accident cases, but they can also be capable and qualified for great use in other types of cases such as slip/trip and fall cases, unrestrained driver cases, cases involving a crush injury, and product liability cases. However, biomechanical engineers are frequently the subject of potential challenges such as federal court Daubert Motions, and foundational objections in both federal and state courts. Bradley Probst, MSBME, is a biomechanist specializing in the study of the forces and mechanics associated with human injury. He applies this work to all segments of the human body involved in collisions and other impact-producing events.
Mr. Probst has designed, developed, and tested kinematic models of the human cervical spine and head, as well as seating and restraint systems. His testing and research has been performed with both anthropomorphic test devices and human subjects.
Amanda Stone, Ph.D. is a Senior Biomechanist specializing in injury biomechanics. Dr. Stone has firsthand experience through her focus on injury mechanisms and associated injury tolerances, a process of analyzing the kinematics and kinetics of the human body during a specific event. She also has prior experience conducting research on ACL injury and running biomechanics.
