The aim of this talk is to demonstrate the ramifications of clinical variability of complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and how they can affect the various aspects of this condition, favorably or unfavorably, for both patients and participating medical and legal professionals.

Alan Chen, MD, MS, is a non-surgical interventionalist in the spine division at Cascade Orthopedics in Auburn and Bonney Lake, Washington. He is a double-board certified physician in pain management and physical medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Chen graduated with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering in 1996 from Tufts University in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. In 1998, he received his master's degree in physiology from Chicago Medical School Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago, Illinois. Two years later, he completed his doctoral degree.
Dr. Chen completed his residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at New York Medical College, St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Manhattan, New York, where he finished as Chief Resident. Afterward, he specialized further in interventional pain management at UCLA with fellowship training. He is also an accredited medical acupuncturist.
