Aggravation and/or lighting up of pre-existing arthritis is a common consideration in occupational injury and/or exposure claims.  In order to make appropriate decisions, there must be consideration of the medical, administrative and legal implications of these claims.  This presentation will focus on the medical issues that should be considered in the decision making process related to these claims.  Learning objectives for this presentation will be an understanding of the science of arthritis, the types of arthritis, and the medical aspects of the progression of arthritis in the context of occupational injuries and exposures.  These considerations will be further explored through case analyses.
