WDTL’s Statement on Racial Justice
The tragic death of George Floyd, which is but one egregious example of the many intolerable abuses suffered by people of color in America, offends the core values of the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers.
The tragic death of George Floyd, which is but one egregious example of the many intolerable abuses suffered by people of color in America, offends the core values of the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers. We have a special responsibility as attorneys to support the fair administration of justice and to uphold the freedoms and equalities guaranteed by the Constitution of the State of Washington and the Constitution of the United States. Racism, hate, prejudice, discrimination, and violence have no place in law enforcement, our legal system, or anywhere in American society. We stand in solidarity with all those who peaceably seek to eradicate those evils and to enact meaningful change. We will increase our efforts, particularly through our Diversity and Community Service/Pro Bono Committees, to promote equality, equity, and justice. The Washington Defense Trial Lawyers reaffirms its longstanding commitment to the improvement of our legal system.
WDTL's Diversity and Community Service Committees will be announcing programming and service activities in the near future. If you are interested in joining the committees, please log into your profile and click on the Committees & Groups link to choose the groups you would like to join.
