Each year at its Seattle Judicial Reception, the WDTL recognizes four exceptional lawyers for their contributions to the bench, the bar, and our community: (1) Outstanding Defense Trial Lawyer, (2) Outstanding Litigation Associate, (3) Outstanding Plaintiff’s Lawyer, (4) Community Leadership, and Career Excellence Award. Nominations are submitted by our members and core sponsors, and are then voted on by WDTL’s board of trustees.

This year was an exceptional year for nominees. The WDTL had many standouts in each category, making the decision difficult for its trustees. But four lawyers stood out above all the rest:
  • Natalie Heineman of Larson Health Advocates won the award for Outstanding Defense Lawyer.
  • Monica Marks of Preg O’Donnell & Gillett won the award for Outstanding Litigation Associate.
  • John Bender of K&L Gates won the Outstanding Plaintiff’s Lawyer Award.
  • Rhianna Fronapfel of Bennett Bigelow & Leedom, P.S., won the Community Leadership Award.

And to recognize a special person for her career devoted to public service and the defense bar, the WDTL honored Celeste Stokes with the Career Excellence Award.

The Seattle Judicial Reception was a smashing success. Over 100 WDTL members, trial and appellate judges, core sponsors, and friends and family of the award winners attended the event at the Washington Athletic Club. Heartfelt speeches and fellowship, once again, took over the Washington Athletic Club for an evening.

The WDTL again thanks its core sponsors for their support of the Seattle Judicial Reception and the award winners.
