A 100+ Point Convention
From July 17th to 21st, we celebrated the continued success of this wonderful organization at our Annual Meeting and Convention in Walla Walla, Washington. WDTL is grateful to our members and core sponsors who attended the event and made it a resounding success. A special congratulations to our new Executive Board members elected at the Annual Meeting on July 20th: Secretary Alison Turnbull, Treasurer Ashley Nagrodski, President Elect Rory Cosgrove, President Erin Seeberger and Immediate Past President Mike Rhodes. WDTL also wishes to express its appreciation to the lineup of entertaining and insightful Convention speakers. Among other presentations, attendees were treated to a discussion of courtroom best practices with retired King County Superior Court Judge Chad Allred, a Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me style game show reviewing all things insurance coverage, jaw dropping examples of how AI can help prepare for depositions, a panel discussion with a powerful message reminding us of the value of pro bono work, and an enlightening discussion about the future of trial practice with Chief Justice Steven Gonzalez (see article on pg.11 for more details on Justice Gonzalez’s remarks).
The excitement did not stop there. What would a WDTL Convention be if it did not include some fun? This year’s Convention theme was designed to highlight one of the best-selling products of our host city: wine! Our members were treated to a private wine tasting event in the original cellar of the L’Ecole Schoolhouse, the WDTLMania wrestling themed President’s Party honoring outgoing President Mike Rhodes at the Seven Hills Winery and Tasting Room, and a private networking and wine tasting event featuring Time & Direction Wines designed to connect our developing WDTL members with our more senior litigators.
The Annual Convention is a great time to reflect on the strength and camaraderie of this respected organization.
Next year’s Annual Convention will be held in Whistler, B.C., from July 10 to 13. Mark your calendars now, and don’t miss another excellent opportunity to forge lasting bonds with your fellow WDTL members!
