Operation Sack Lunch
Date(s): February 3, 2018
Time: 9:00 AM PST - 6:30 PM PST
Please join the WDTL Community Service and Pro Bono Committee in a day of service with Operation: Sack Lunch (“OSL”). OSL is a multifaceted human services provider that has served more than 2.9 million meals since 1989. OSL has been recognized as an essential service in the local community with numerous awards including the Jefferson Award for Humanitarian Community Service, the Seattle Mayor's End Hunger Award, an International Giraffe Inductee, a Thomas G. Wales Foundation Honoree, along with many others. The day of service will be in downtown Seattle on Saturday, February 3, 2018.
Meal Service with OSL
OSL prepares and serves meals to those in need, operating both a kitchen facility in Pioneer Square (the Compass Center) as well as a separate outdoor meal site in downtown Seattle. Volunteer involvement includes, but is not limited to: meal prep, sack lunch prep & assembly, serving and clean-up, and possibly supporting OSL staff with other tasks as needed, including processing donations, inventory, cleaning, or organization.
WDTL has reserved two shifts with OSL this year, and each shift is limited to 10 volunteers, including guests of WDTL members. We hope to have all 20 slots filled by our members and their guests. The slots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Shift 1: 9:30am-2pm at the Compass Center. Volunteers will prepare and serve lunch, and provide other services as needed including organization. Volunteers should bring their own sack lunch to eat.
Shift 2: 2pm -6:30pm also begins at the Compass Center, and volunteers will prepare and serve food. However, Shift 2 will include serving dinner at the Outdoor Meal Site at 6th and Columbia.
If you are interested in volunteering, please email Community Service and Pro Bono Committee member Gauri Shrotriya Locker at GauriL@atg.wa.gov.
If you are unable to volunteer but wish to donate goods directly to OSL, feel free to click the link below for their “wish list.” You may drop items off directly to OSL any time, or send items with any member that is volunteering on February 3rd:
